Overview

This role will serve as a key marketing resource working closely with a cross-functional team tasked with launching and growing a blood safety franchise. To accomplish this, the Senior Marketing Manager will help spearhead marketing efforts to commercialize new products targeting blood donor screening, including opportunity analysis, launch planning, transitioning products from development to the market, customer requirement definition, and overall market development.  Post launch, this role will be tasked with helping to oversee all account management and technical support activities. Activities also include developing long term product forecasts along with an in-depth competitive assessment.

Responsibilities

  • Play a key role in commercial activities for the Blood Safety franchise.
  • Participate as integral member of cross-functional new product development team with responsibility for commercial launch of new blood screening products
  • Support all post-launch marketing activities for blood screening products: customer identification and out-reach; contract negotiation; business forecasting; oversight of the technical support function
  • Aid in the development of long term commercial strategy and tactical plans for market development
  • Aid in the development of detailed competitive assessment along with a mitigation strategy
  • Support and/or conduct advisory panel meetings with key opinion leaders or potential customers
  • Develop comprehensive market and product opportunity assessments for new products along with colleagues from Marketing, R+D, Corporate Strategy, Finance, Regulatory, Manufacturing, and other functions as needed
  • Assist with pre-diligence/preliminary assessments and work closely with the leadership team to coordinate early go/no-go decisions regarding further analyses, preliminary terms, or deal negotiations as needed

Qualifications

  • BS (life sciences or engineering a plus), MBA preferred
  • Experience in blood safety (specifically blood screening and/or blood donation) market strongly preferred
  • 8 - 12+ years business experience, with 5+ years medical technology product experience (product management and/or product development), with an emphasis on new product launch, technology, market assessment, and commercialization
  • Extensive knowledge of medical technology market dynamics and technology adoption is essential; diagnostic testing is preferred, medical devices will be considered
  • Must have experience in product commercialization, including analyzing opportunities, strategic analysis of markets, understanding of healthcare provider trends, interviewing key opinion leaders about needs and decision making processes, and reimbursement/market access
  • Financial planning and analysis (e.g. forecasting and NPV) skills are required
  • R&D product development experience, clinical and regulatory strategy experience, or experience with customer interactions (e.g. diagnostic or medical device sales) are a plus
  • Must understand key product life cycle management, market penetration strategies, and technology adoption barriers within diagnostic testing markets
  • Must have proven excellent communication and presentation skills
  • A proven track record in developing concise and insightful plans and analytical models for existing businesses or new products and business ideas
  • Leadership experience with teams and virtual teams is important
  • Strong project management skills and experience required
  • Requires approximately 35% travel.
