Overview

Under general supervision, develop, configure, and maintain IT applications that support Oxford Immunotec’s lab operations. This role involves working directly with the business community to understand business needs, designing appropriate solutions, implementing these either through configuration of a commercial LIS product, or through development of custom solutions, and then supporting the testing and validation required

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes user needs and system capabilities and provides direction to end-user within lab and office settings. 
  • Contributes to identification of trade-offs between user requirements and technical issues.
  • Contributes with all software design and development requests and other data access solutions to support implementation.
  • Configure and maintain the LIS for the production lab including reporting needs of end users (including custom developed LIS applications and Harvest application). 
  • Develop and support middleware and interfaces between the LIS and upstream and downstream systems, including lab instruments, billing, fax systems, imaging, email and others. 
  • Contribute to software development projects associated with lab automation
  • Author and execute design documents, test plans, installation procedures and other documentation required as part of software quality and compliance programs. 
  • Follows all company safety policies & other safety precautions within work area
  • Regular attendance and timeliness is required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3-5 years software development work experience
  • 3 years database development work experience using MS SQL, Database Administration experience a plus
  • 3 years of experience configuring commercial laboratory information systems (such as Harvest) preferred
  • Experience with the following required: C# or VB.net, .NET 4+, Javascript
  • Experience with the following preferred: T-SQL,MS Office development VBA (MS Access, MS Excel), ASP/VBScript
  • Experience developing software within a health care regulated environment preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to interact using tact and diplomacy
  • Proven ability to clearly communicate technical information to non-technical users, and able to synthesize non-technical user requirements into clear and concise technical specifications
  • Ability to work on an independent and self-motivated basis with minimal supervision
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate responsibility to maximize productivity
