Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: 

Under general supervision, manages the daily needs and provides complete critical support of a production lab environment, and supports internal and external users for hardware and software needs.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintains the LIS for the production lab including reporting needs of end users
  • Installs, upgrades, and maintains laptops, desktops including configuring Windows XP Pro, Win7, Win8.1, and Win10.
  • Installs, configures, analyzes, and debugs peripherals such as printers, scanners, barcode scanners, pointing devices, keyboards, PDAs, and flash drives
  • Supports the result delivery needs for the LIS-faxing, encrypted email and portal
  • Continuously monitors and evaluates local infrastructure
  • Supports network switches and cabling
  • Supports departmental and individual adherence to HIPAA security standards
  • Performs Exchange administration
  • Implements SSL VPN for remote employees and provides remote support services
  • Provides complete hardware and software support for remote users
  • Performs diagnostics and resolves networking, hardware, and software problems
  • Maintains an accurate and up to date hardware inventory
  • Performs Skype UM administration
  • Follows all company safety policies & other safety precautions within work area
  • Regular attendance and timeliness is required

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years IT experience in start-up or small company environment
  • Proven knowledge of PC hardware components, compatibility, and installation techniques
  • Experience with computer peripheral setup, configuration, and troubleshooting
  • Advanced knowledge of system administration techniques
  • Proven knowledge of common network and authentication protocols/technologies such as TCP/IP, NAT, VPN, LDAP, Microsoft Active Directory, NAS, etc.                
  • Proven experience in installing, configuring, and updating application software
  • Knowledge of computer security principles, practices, and tools
  • Knowledge of software and hardware virtualization technologies and techniques
  • Knowledge of backup policies, practices, and technologies
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to interact using tact and diplomacy
  • Proven ability to clearly communicate technical information to non-technical users, and able to synthesize non-technical user requirements into clear and concise technical specifications
  • Proven ability to work effectively and efficiently with a large volume of work under pressure with interruptions, deadlines, and short lead times
  • Ability to work on an independent and self-motivated basis with minimal supervision
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate responsibility to maximize productivity

Shift / Hours: Wednesday-Sunday, 8:00am-5:00pm with occasional overtime
