    Oxford Immunotec is seeking a highly motivated and self-sufficient candidate to join a R&D team and take a leadership role in progressing R&D initiatives. This successful candidate will be responsible for leading the design, performance, and interpretation of experiments and project plans in support of the company’s product development goals. Additional opportunities include experience in evaluating and implementing innovative technologies and platforms, and automation of current and future tests.

    Responsibilities

    • A passion for product development in support of improving outcomes for our patients
    • Responsible for the leadership of complex experiments in accordance with the company’s Quality System and to regulatory standards, to deliver the highest quality testing results
    • Responsible for clear and effective multi-department and multi-site communications required to build relationships and accelerate product development in a matrix-style organization
    • Ownership of projects and/or workstreams, and preparing detailed project plans
    • Prioritizes dynamic workload to ensure that key objectives are met on time and to budget
    • Identifies innovative and laterally applied opportunities to assist with development goals, and can identify new projects and/or applications of current technology
    • Presents data at internal and external meetings to collaborators and at International Symposia
    • Ensures that research plans, reports, and associated documentation are accurate, thorough, and clearly written
    • Ensures that data is analyzed thoroughly, and that conclusions in written reports and presentations reflect the data presented, and are of the highest quality
    • When required, cross-functional support in Oxford Diagnostic Laboratories or other collaborative departments, ensuring that the Quality Management System, including ISO 9001:2008, ISO 13485:2003, CLIA and CAP, is adhered to at the highest possible level at all times
    • Work with ODL laboratory staff, Clinical Operations staff, and the Quality department as necessary to assist in troubleshooting for assays and processes
    • Opportunity to supervise the work of, and train, junior staff members on our exceptional team

    Qualifications

    • Minimum PhD (+ 2-4 years of experience), or MSc (+ 4-6 years of experience) in life sciences, preferably immunology
    • Experience with vector-borne diseases (esp. Tick Borne) highly preferred
    • Demonstrated self-motivation and the ability to lead, collaborate, and accomplish
    • An understanding of the diagnostic and pharmaceutical industries
    • Knowledge of CLIA, CAP, and Laboratory Developed Tests an advantage
    • Familiarity with Quality System concepts and requirements including GMP and ISO
    • Working knowledge of ELISA, ELISPOT, flow cytometry, cell culture and assays, and statistical methods a distinct advantage
    • Must be proficient in MS Office and data analysis
