    Oxford Immunotec is seeking a highly motivated and self-sufficient candidate to join the Manufacturing and Quality Control team.  The Manufacturing/Quality Control Technician is responsible for the production of various ELISA, Capture, IFA, PCR, and Western Blot components; which includes preparation of kit components (buffers and controls), assembling of kits where applicable, and performing Electrophoresis.  They are also responsible for the incoming inspection of critical and non-critical goods, and release testing of manufactured products.  This is a position which requires flexibility and the ability to learn new and different assays while collaborating with staff members in all departments at the Norwood facility.

    Responsibilities

    • Perform product receipt and inspections; understanding the concepts of “quarantine, rejection, and approval”.
    • Ability to learn and perform multiple assays with impeccable technique to perform all Quality Control and Release Testing on incoming product for various clinical testing, including but not limited to: T-Spot, NAT, Western blot, and AFIA.
    • Interpret results and distinguish between high, low, and negative samples using a fluorescence microscope which includes reading and assessing colors.
    • Ability to comprise Finished Device Lots for use in Clinical and Blood Donor Screening.
    • Manufacture controls, buffers, gels, and antigen, while exercising aseptic techniques and line clearances when necessary.
    • Assist in the manufacturing of Kit Components.
    • Assist in the production of assembling kits for consumers.
    • Execute PQ’s, IOQ’s and Equipment Comparability Studies.
    • Perform electrophoresis, producing quality strips to be used in Western Blot.
    • Execute stability studies to be performed at various time points.
    • Ability to follow scientific SOP’s and understand document control and cGMP or GLP
    • Update spreadsheets, inventory, and documents; requiring experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and the Windows environment.
    • Ability to listen and follow directions well.
    • Organize daily workload schedule with minimal supervision to meet company’s production schedule.

    Qualifications

    • One year of lab setting work experience.
    • B.A./B.S. in a biological field.
    • Basic biological laboratory skills necessary; including the use of micropipettors, balances, pH meters, etc. and aseptic technique.
    • Ability to interact positively and effectively with other departments within the organization (ex: R&D, QA).
    • Good writing skills, and ability to complete Manufacturing, Quality Control, and Inspection documentation
    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
    • Candidate must be able to distinguish colors and pass a colorblind test
    • Impeccable adherence to the quality system.
    • Ability to be flexible and change tasks throughout the day/week.
