Overview

This position is a member of the Oxford Diagnostic Laboratory Team and is specifically responsible for supporting the routine testing service offered by Oxford Immunotec to aid UK based laboratories and clinicians in the diagnosis of latent TB infection and TB disease. ODL uses the T‑SPOT.TB assay and results are provided within two working days of receipt of sample.

Responsibilities

  • The role will be responsible for laboratory support and administration support to the ODL Team
  • Once trained, the role will be Tuesday to Saturday, 7.30am – 12.00pm
  • Booking in samples delivered by various couriers at various times throughout the morning – opening up delivery boxes, checking patient data on request form and sample tube, issuing a unique accessioning number barcode, releasing sample onto the Laboratory Information System (LIS)
  • Data input into the Service’s LIS, with other administrative duties as directed.
  • Booking in of clinical samples and data entry for these samples
  • Contacting customers with any queries arising from sample booking in (e.g. date of blood collection)
  • Referring any unresolved issue to the ODL Laboratory Coordinator
  • Assisting with lab prep for daily processing
  • Performing duties in other departments to meet critical Company objectives if required
  • Working to Oxford Immunotec’s Company Values at all times

Qualifications

Desirable Technical skills and abilities

  • An understanding of the diagnostic and pharmaceutical industries
  • Previous experience of working within a laboratory environment
  • Familiarity with Quality System concepts and requirements including GMP and ISO systems.

 

Essential Technical skills and abilities

 

  • Knowledge of Windows and Office bases applications; Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • ‘A’ Level or equivalent preferably in a life sciences discipline
  • Ability to organise and prioritise work loads
  • Previous work experience, ideally in a laboratory

 

Emotional skills and abilities

 

  • Capable of handling multiple tasks at the same time.
  • Capable of working effectively in a team environment.
  • Able to communicate effectively at all levels.
