Overview

Oxford Diagnostic Laboratories is the diagnostic testing service offered by Oxford Immunotec Ltd. The service specialises in the analysis of T-cells to aid the diagnosis of, and investigation of, infectious diseases using Oxford Immunotec’s own T-SPOT technology as well as innovative research techniques.  The Laboratory provides a diagnostic service to UK clinical services as well as participating in ground-breaking research including collaboration with vaccine development companies.

The role operates under a flexible shift working pattern to be agreed.

This is a foundation level role and the post-holder will be encouraged to develop their skills, including in participation in on-line learning, to further develop their career.

Responsibilities

 

  • Working under supervision to take responsibility for preparing and conducting of diagnostic tests using T-SPOT technology. Tests currently performed include those for SARS-CoV-2 and for Tuberculosis.
  • Ensuring that allocated work is completed to agreed timelines to meet both the laboratories and the customers service requirements.
  • Be responsible for identifying and raising any issues or concerns with allocated work that may cause a service delay, ensuring that any issues are communicated to the line manager or supervisor in a timely manner.
  • With assistance from more senior staff, prioritise workload to ensure key targets and objectives are met on time.
  • Performing duties in other departments, on an occasional basis, to meet critical Company objectives as required.
  • Achieve competency in the T-SPOT techniques including manual and automated processing.
  • Ensure that the Quality Management System, including ISO 9001:2008, ISO 13485:2016, and ISO 17025:2017, is adhered to at all times and in all aspects of the job
  • The role will require flexible working on Saturdays and Sundays.

Qualifications

Essential qualifications, skills and abilities

  • BSc or equivalent experience, preferably in a life sciences discipline
  • Knowledge of Windows and Office based applications; Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise work loads
  • Previous work experience in a laboratory environment

 

Desirable Technical skills and abilities

  • An understanding of the healthcare, diagnostic and/or pharmaceutical industries
  • Familiarity with Quality System concepts and requirements including GMP and ISO systems
  • Previous work experience in a customer service environment

 

Emotional skills and abilities

  • Capable of handling multiple tasks at the same time.
  • Capable of working effectively in a team environment.
  • Able to communicate effectively at all levels.
